Springton WTT Local League Rules
|
General
We will follow all USTA rules except where they differ from WTT or Springton local league rules.
Substitute Rules:
- A player is a valid sub only if his/her rating is equal to or less than the player he/she is subbing for.
- The penalty for an above level sub playing in any set; or a valid sub playing singles and/or designated MXD, is to add to the score sheet bottom line an amount equal to any games won above lost. If a sub loses, the score stands.
- Overtime will be played only if the team with roster players wins designated MXD and is trailing when all the set scores are totalled. If the set is tied because penalty points are added, overtime is not played.
- If the match score is tied after penalty points are added, a supertiebreaker is played, or if court time is over, one more penalty point is awarded to the team that did not use a sub.
- A team must use roster players in a supertiebreaker or forfeit and lose the match by one game. If both teams must use a sub, then it is played and counts. There are no penalty points when both teams have a sub playing in the same set.
Above level teams:
- A team, whose average rating is above the level of competition they are playing in, is elegible to play in the league by consent of the other Captains. The league will then have champions at two levels. The Champion of each level, with three or more teams, is elegible to advance to the National Qualifier.
- A team with an above level sub is considered an above level team, for that match. If they win, it counts only in the upper level standings. If they lose, it counts in the standings of both levels.
Unrated Players:
Unrated players may participate in the league. If any player from an opposing team thinks the unrated player would be rated above the league level, then he/she may request that the player be rated. Until an agreed upon verifier gives him/her a rating, any matches played will be subject to the penalty that applies to an above level sub.
